Quantity Surveyor

 

My client is a leading machining company, with an international presence within the industrial sector. They are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work from their Kendal, Cumbria, UK office. The role will offer a fantastic opportunity to someone looking to learn and develop their career. The company has superb long term contracts which means they’ve steady growth planned for the next 3 years.

 

Reports to:

Managing Director

 

Main Tasks:

  1. Develop commercial model to understand cost per Technician

  2. Develop the commercial inputs for Proposals and SAP

  3. Monitor the projects costs.

  4. Prepare invoices

  5. Evaluate commercial performance

  6. Define business improvement

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Focal point for all commercial activities, from Proposals to invoicing

  2. Communicate with all parties (both internal and external stakeholders)

  3. Lead commercial discussions with customers; review, drafting and assisting with negotiating contracts

  4. T&C’s with sub-contractors and suppliers

  5. Ensure that Client standard operating procedures are followed

  6. React to any commercial contract queries that may arise and deal with any ad hoc queries that may arise during the contract

 

Key Interactions / interfaces:

  1. Sales to understand customer

  2. Client commercial to understand contracts interfaces

  3. Client finance to understand SAP requirements

  4. Resource team to understand technician pool

  5. Operations for project execution and management

 

Key Results:

  1. Commercial model known

  2. Commercial performance monitored and reported accurately

  3. Invoices issued on time

  4. Unbilled managed

 

Mandatory Requirement

  1. At least 5 years’ commercial management experience

  2. It is expected that you shall be degree qualified in either a commercial or engineering sector; or related business discipline.

  3. Possess first class communication skills, written and oral

  4. Be well versed in the MS Suite of products and ideally have had exposure to and ERP system such as SAP.

  5. Have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

  6. Live near, or be willing to relocate without financial aid, to Kendal.

  1. This is a permanent, staff position with the end client
