Job Description

My client are looking for rig up/ rig down hands to perform a variety of general manual labor tasks involving physical labor, loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials at drilling and heavy construction projects.

The position is part of a crew that is responsible for the maintenance and day to day operation of the service rigs and/or the drilling rig. This position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other laborers. Works under immediate supervision.

 

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with all rigup/rigdown employees.
  • Able to operate equipment safely.
  • Loading equipment for jobs with supervision.
  • Unload iron for inspection after rig down.
  • Make sure all tools are accounted for and are put back on the truck after job completion.
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/drilling projects; performs manual labor.
  • Performs ground work.
  • Assists with all aspects of the drilling operations
  • Performs maintenance on drilling equipment and company vehicles
  • Perform manual labor such as helping to maintain and keep warehouse in proper order.
  • Handling moving objects, using hands in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials.
  • Manages and maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Performs materials handling and storage.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems immediately to the attention of the Manager or Executive Management.
  • Getting information by observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Must complete all required safety training.
  • Must be able to read and safely operate tape measures, grinders and level accurately.
  • Understands safety awareness and participation.
  • Completion of paperwork at times.
  • Must be able to pass all required background screens and drug screens.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Executive Management.

Physical Demands

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The position requires lifting heavy objects, walks, sit, balance, and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, bends, twists, sprints or throws objects. Frequently lifts items more than 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime is expected. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.

 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day. Out-of-area and overnight travel is expected. Extensive travel for long periods of time is expected.

 

Required Education and Experience

  •  0-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills, knowledge of arithmetic.
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn and receive instruction/direction from qualified personnel and supervisors.
  • High standard of integrity and professionalism.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to be thorough in all tasks to completion.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Some college
  • More than 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Advance computer skills

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must possess or can obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment and keep this license up to date.
  • Federally Approved Photo I.D. accepted by Military bases, homeland security, etc.
  • Must maintain the ability to pass extensive Homeland Security Background screening required per job.
  • Must maintain a MVR that is acceptable according to Company policy.
